Novola Raffaele, nato a Alghero (Sassari), ha 50 anni nel 1835. Mercante di vino. Stabilito in Tunisia nel 1820. The Proconsulate, which was dependent on the Consulate of Beirut for the entire period, was established in 1826. The position of proconsul remained vacant from 1849 onwards.
Since then, the protection of Sardinian subjects has been entrusted to French consuls.

The following proconsuls succeeded one another:

• Stefano Pulicani (1826)
• Giorgio Catzflis (June 1826 - October 1844)
• Francesco Atzeni Anastasi (1844-1849)
